A GEPF member receives a resignation benefit when he or she resigns from government or is discharged due to misconduct or an illness or injury on duty (caused by his or her own doing).

GEPF offers two options for the payment of this resignation benefit:

• Have it paid into a bank account as a cash lump sum; or
• Transfer it to an approved pension preservation fund.
